Since its foundation, École Ferrières has cultivated more than excellence in hospitality
and gastronomy: it has nurtured values, traditions, and a unique sense of community.
Among these traditions, the Vineyard Ceremonies hold a special place, symbolising
transmission, perseverance, and rootedness, three core pillars of the Ferrières spirit.
Each year, amidst the vineyards surrounding the Château de Ferrières, an event brings
together students, faculty, and alumni. This ceremony is not merely celebratory: it
carries deep symbolic meaning.
The Vine: A Heritage to Care For
During the ceremony, students are each assigned a vine that was previously
entrusted to students from earlier cohorts. By receiving this vine, every student
becomes the guardian of a story and a legacy, tasked with nurturing it throughout
their studies.
Caring for the vine goes far beyond physical maintenance. It represents a personal and
collective commitment, a metaphor for the student journey: cultivating skills,
fostering growth, and preparing to bear fruit in their professional lives.
A Living Link Between Students and Alumni
One of the most remarkable aspects of this tradition is the intergenerational bridge it
creates with alumni. The vine received by current students once belonged to a former
student, establishing a direct connection with those who experienced Ferrières
before them.
Current students can engage with alumni, gain advice, hear their stories, and understand how the school shaped their journeys. For alumni, it is an opportunity to see their legacy live on, following the growth of the vine and, symbolically, of the students who care for it.
