Recently, our first-year Bachelor Hospitality Management students had the opportunity to take part in an exceptional MasterClass organised by Maison Île des Embiez, formerly known as the Paul Ricard Islands. The event focused on the challenges of developing a new brand identity and was delivered in an interactive format, encouraging creativity and collaboration.
Participants were divided into four groups to work on team projects, using paper boards to structure their ideas and present their insights visually. This collaborative approach allowed students to engage directly with real-world branding and communication challenges in the luxury hospitality and tourism sector.

The MasterClass was led by Lucie Pailhes, HR Development Officer, and Aurea Viotto, HR Officer, both of whom have been working with Maison Île des Embiez since 2023. Lucie, with experience at the Iliad Group and Paris Society – Groupe Noctis, shared her expertise in talent development and human resources management. Aurea contributed a fresh and dynamic perspective, drawing on her background in recruitment and administration.

The history of Maison Île des Embiez was also central to the discussions. Behind the fame of Paul Ricard—known for pastis, the sun, and the eponymous racing circuit—was a true builder and humanist. In the 1950s, Paul Ricard acquired the islands of Bendor and Embiez to share them with the public, creating spaces for family holidays, social gatherings, and nature exploration. Established in 1966, the Paul Ricard Oceanographic Institute continues today to promote environmental stewardship, staying true to its founder’s vision.
Students praised the interactive format, which allowed them to reflect deeply on the challenges of building a strong brand identity while learning about the history and values of an iconic French heritage house. This MasterClass provided a unique opportunity to combine theoretical learning with practical experience in an inspiring and stimulating setting.
