Ximena Ramírez, 18, from El Salvador, shares her experience of her first year studying for a Bachelor’s degree in Hospitality Management at Ferrières Hospitality & Luxury Management School. Ximena had always dreamed of studying abroad, and France particularly appealed to her for its culture, history and gastronomy. When Ximena discovered Ferrières online, she immediately knew that it was the ideal school to combine her passion for hospitality and gastronomy with an academic environment of excellence.

Upon her arrival, Ximena was impressed by the setting: the Château and its facilities made her feel like she was in a film, with every detail reflecting the elegance and prestige of the school. But beyond the decor, it was the welcome that made the biggest impression on her. Despite the language barrier, she felt welcome and supported from the moment she began the admissions process. ‘They have always been extremely kind to me,’ she explains, ‘so when I arrived, I already felt at ease.’

For Ximena, the most rewarding aspect of Ferrières is the practical sessions, particularly in the kitchen. She emphasises that the combination of theory and practice allows students to prepare effectively for their future careers. ‘It’s extremely important to be able to apply theory in a real-world context,’ she adds. This educational approach perfectly reflects Ferrières’ philosophy: a balance between academic learning and practical experience.
Ximena encourages international students to take the plunge, even if they don’t speak French. In her opinion, Ferrières offers not only a unique learning environment, but also a rich human experience, where everyone feels welcome and supported.
